Dynamite Kiss Episode 5 Review & Recap

Episode 5 of Dynamite Kiss delivers everything fans expect from a mid-season rom-com twist, drama, jealousy, and some of the funniest power plays yet. The story picks up right where Episode 4 ended, and within minutes, the tension between Da-rim, Ji-hyeok, and Seon-u hits new heights.

What Happened So Far on Dynamite Kiss Episode 5?

The episode opens with Ji-hyeok rescuing Da-rim from loan sharks, creating a moment that blurs the line between duty and care. His heroic entrance, followed by Da-rim fainting in his arms, sets the tone for an episode built on emotional whiplash.

When he carries her to safety, it’s both dramatic and oddly tender. The kind of over-the-top moment that makes you grin and sigh at once.

Seon-u’s reaction adds an extra layer of heartbreak. Watching from afar, his jealousy is quiet but sharp. You can feel how much it hurts him to see Da-rim with someone else, even if he can’t admit it.

Enemies, Debtors, or Something More?

Back at the office, Ji-hyeok returns to his cold, teasing self. He insists he saved Da-rim only because she’s part of his team, but his actions tell another story. To hide his feelings, he starts picking on her again, forcing her into ridiculous tasks, from taking the stairs multiple times to enforcing silly shoe rules.

He even reminds her that her “organs belong to him,” referencing the bizarre debt contract that ties them together. It’s absurd, petty, and hilarious, the perfect example of a man fighting feelings he doesn’t understand.

Da-rim, broke and exhausted, pushes through his nonsense with quiet determination. She refuses to quit, and that resilience makes her even more likable. Ji-hyeok’s constant nitpicking becomes a form of affection in disguise, though neither is brave enough to admit it.

New Faces, Same Complications

Meanwhile, Ha-yeong continues to shine in her professional life. She brings Seon-u into a new project, impressed by his photography skills and gentle nature. It’s a subtle parallel to Da-rim’s growing role on Ji-hyeok’s team; both women are finding purpose, but their hearts are tangled in the same love triangle.

When Ji-hyeok leads the group on an environmental project, things take a more sentimental turn. The tree-planting trip allows viewers to see his softer side. Da-rim spots him revisiting a tree he once planted with his mother, and her instinctive compassion shines through when she offers to take photos for him. That simple gesture feels genuine, marking one of the most emotional scenes in the series so far.

A Ladybird, a Smile, and a Shift

One of the most charming moments happens unexpectedly: Ji-hyeok, the intimidating boss, jumps back in fear from a tiny ladybird. Da-rim’s laughter is contagious, and for the first time, Ji-hyeok seems human. That brief encounter softens their dynamic, making it clear that his tough exterior hides a deeply insecure, endearingly awkward person.

When Da-rim later tells Seon-u about the incident, she beams with amusement, utterly unaware of how much her story hurts him. That subtle heartbreak on Seon-u’s face speaks louder than words. He’s in love, and he knows it.

Da-rim Finds Her Moment

During the same trip, Da-rim spots a struggling parent juggling a baby and a pile of eco-friendly nappies. Inspired by their story, she suggests a marketing idea linking their brand to an environmental cause. Ji-hyeok is impressed and gives her the responsibility to lead the new campaign. For Da-rim, it’s a big moment. A reward for her hard work and proof that he sees her potential.

This professional win also complicates things further when Seon-u is brought in as the project photographer. Ji-hyeok, unaware of Seon-u’s fake marriage to Da-rim, unintentionally adds fuel to the tension. Now, the trio must work together, each pretending nothing is wrong while emotions boil beneath the surface.

The Fake Husband Act Gets Real

Seon-u’s assignment gives him the perfect excuse to be near Da-rim. During a team dinner, he slips easily into the role of her affectionate husband, calling her “honey” and acting completely smitten. The others swoon over their chemistry, while Da-rim squirms in embarrassment. She doesn’t realize that Seon-u’s playful affection isn’t all for show anymore.

At the same time, Ha-yeong grows more attached to Seon-u, blurring the line between admiration and attraction. Her decision to arrange a personal photoshoot with him earlier in the day hints at her true feelings. By evening, the emotional tension among the four characters is ready to burst.

A Kiss, a Hug, and a Misunderstanding

Things take a dramatic turn when Ha-yeong confesses her feelings to Seon-u and kisses him. Unfortunately, Ji-hyeok witnesses the moment and completely misreads the situation. Believing Seon-u is cheating on his “wife,” Ji-hyeok steps in to protect Da-rim before she can see it. His instinctive reaction is to pull her into a hug, shielding her from heartbreak that doesn’t actually exist.

If this episode proves anything, it’s that love in Dynamite Kiss is as unpredictable as ever. With misunderstandings piling up and feelings intensifying, the next episode promises even more emotional twists and turns.
